48 quai Courbet
59660 MERVILLE
The origins of vertical archery date back to the Middle Ages. The Archers of the King of Spain used to shot vertically on “parrots” perched at the top of the mas in order to train their archery skills on warships. The name of “papegaey”, parrot in Flemish, still remained. Ancient tradition, vertical archery is practiced every Wednesday from 18h to 20h in the “Prés de la ville”, quai des Anglais, in Merville.
